St. Joseph School&#8230; A great place to grow

Congratulations!
Congratulations to our 1st and 2nd graders! They won a pizza party for their awesome behavior in the library. Since returning from Christmas break they kept the library the cleanest, returned their books in a timely manner and used their indoor voices consistently in the library. Great job kiddos!

School Board Elections
We will have three positions opening up on the St. Joseph School Board this summer. Please think of someone &#8211;or- consider nominating yourself to fill these important positions. You can nominate someone for this great honor at the June 23, 24, 30 and July 1st Masses. The elections will be held on the weekends of July 14/15 and July 21/22&#160; &#160;after all Masses.

Parent Club
Parent Club is in need of volunteers to serve as officers for the 2012-13 school year. &#160;Please consider serving in a leadership capacity in an organization that provides so many good things for our children.

Golf Committee News
The St Joseph Golf Committee is asking each school family to contribute one attendance prize (approx. value $10) for our annual golf tournament on June 9th. The funds from the golf tournament go to our Building Fund. All attendance prizes can be turned in to the classroom teachers. Thank you!

The remaining fees for next school year ($50.00 per child) were due Thursday, May 3rd.&#160; Please send your check to the school office as soon as possible.&#160; Thank you.

Jack &#38; Jill Softball Tournament
The annual St. Joseph vs. St. Theodore softball tournament will be held this Saturday, May 12th at Josephville Ball Park.&#160; In case of rain, the tournament will be held on Saturday, May 19th.

St. Joseph Yearbook
Yearbook flyers were sent home this week with each of the students.&#160; The cost of each yearbook is $19.50.&#160; Please make checks payable to St. Joseph School.&#160; Yearbooks will be distributed at the Open House in August.

Early Childhood Closing Program/Last Day for 8th grade
The Pre-K and Kindergarten classes will have their closing program at 10:00 am on Friday, May 18th, in the school cafeteria.&#160; This is also the last day for our 8th graders. The 8th grade class will be dismissed after the Early Childhood Closing Program has ended and their families have dispersed. This typically would be around 11:15ish am.

St. Paul Knights of Columbus Clay Shoot
The Dan Shilharvey Memorial Clay Shoot will be held on May 19, 2012 at Blackhawk Shooting Club from 8:00 a.m. until noon.&#160; The cost is $240.00 for a 4 man team or $60.00 per person.&#160; Youth 16 and under is $30.00 per person.&#160; Contact John Luetkenhaus @ 314-609-8815 if you have any questions.

The students and staff of St. Joseph School will be offering up a Mass for our awesome parish volunteers on Wednesday, May 23rd.&#160; All school volunteers are invited to come to the 8:00 am Liturgy in thanksgiving for your dedication to our great school

Last Day of School/ &#8220;VBS&#8221; Casual Day 
The students will be dismissed for the summer at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 23rd. Students may dress casually with a .50 donation to the St. Theodore Vacation Bible School. 

8th Grade Graduation8th Grade graduation will be on Wednesday, May 23rd at 7:00 pm. Lifetouch will need everyone in Church by 6:00 pm for a group photograph. &#160;

Vacation Bible School 
Vacation Bible School runs from June 25-June 29th, from 9:00 a.m. thru 12:00 noon at St. Theodore School.&#160; On-line registration only at STTEDVBS.COM for both child/youth volunteer sign ups. St. Joseph School&#8230; A great place to grow

Congratulations to Our Newly Confirmed Students!
Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade students who were Confirmed in the Spirit during a beautiful Sacramental Liturgy last Thursday evening! I would like to thank Bishop Rice, our main celebrant, for such a beautiful ceremony and Fr. Huber for concelebrating this wonderful event. A special thanks goes out to our Seminarian, Mr. Mark Ostrowski for all of the time and effort he put into planning this evening. I would like to thank Mrs. Connie Bampton and the choir for their uplifting musical performance. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Tara Smith and Mrs. Christy Blair for all of their help in putting together the celebration gathering after the Mass. Lastly, I would like to commend all of our parents, for your dedication and devotion to raising your children in the Faith.

Students should pick out their favorite book character and bring clothes to school to dress up like the character.&#160; Costumes or clothing must be appropriate for school.&#160; After Mass, students will &#8220;buddy up&#8221; to talk about the book.&#160;

The St. Joseph Class of 2013 is sponsoring a spirit night at Chick-fil-A in Wentzville on Monday, 
April 23rd. &#160;Turn in the attached flyer with your purchase receipt from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and 15% percent of the total of all collected receipts will be donated to the Class of 2013 for their Pro-Life Trip to Washington, DC, next January. First Communion
The 2nd graders will celebrate their 1st Communion tomorrow, Saturday, April 14th at 10:00 am.&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; *Note* There is no reception following this ceremony.&#160; All Choir members should be picked up after the ceremony by 11:15 a.m.

School Improvement Meeting
There will be a School Improvement Meeting on Monday, April 16th at 3:15 pm.
&#160;
STUCO Raffle
The Student Council will be selling raffle chances on a Cardinals&#8217; Basket the week of April 16th to the 20th.&#160;&#160; Chances are 25 cents each or 5/$1.00.&#160; Chances will be sold each day during the lunch periods.
Pro-Life Trip Fundraiser
This is the last week to take a chance to win the prize of &#8220;Principal for the Day&#8221;.&#160; Tickets are $1 each or $5 for 6 tickets.&#160; They will be sold at school on Tuesday and Thursday during the lunch period.&#160; The prize includes a dress down day, free homework pass, a special lunch with Mr. Elmore and more!&#160;All proceeds will benefit the Class of 2013 Pro-Life trip.&#160; If you have any questions see the information located in the school lobby.

The Cemetery Committee will sponsor one more &#8220;drive-thru only&#8221; Fish Fry on March 23 from

Knights of Columbus Events
Euchre Tournament - Saturday, March 24 at 7:00 pm in our cafeteria.&#160; Cost is $10 per player. Keep your partner.&#160; 
Men&#8217;s Night at the Movies - - -Come out for an evening with the guys to watch the powerful, heroic, and entertaining movie &#8220;Courageous&#8221; on Sunday, March 25, at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria.&#160; Beer, soda, and snacks will be provided free of charge.&#160;

Thank You
The Playground Committee would like to thank everyone who participated in their Fish Fry on Friday, March 2nd.&#160; A special thanks to all the workers and those families who donated food.&#160; The fish fry profit of $1200.00 will be added to the playground funds.

Feast of St. Joseph
St. Joseph School will celebrate its paternal feast day on Monday, March 19th. Students are asked to bring in St. Joseph statues, pictures or icons to be blessed along with loaves of bread, acquired by the school, on the St. Joseph Altar. After the blessing, the oldest student in each family will be given a small loaf to be taken home and shared with their family.

Amerigas School Days Program
Parents, don&#8217;t forget to turn in your Amerigas School Days receipts. St. Joseph School &#38; Parish has registered with Amerigas for their School Days Program.&#160; Families bring in their propane bills (the section that has School Days Program on it) to school.&#160; We will then tally receipts and submit them to Amerigas for cash.&#160; We will earn 2 cents for every gallon purchased.&#160; Thank you.

St. Joseph School&#8230; A great place to grow

Congratulations
Congratulations on a job well done to Kelly, Andrew, Matt, Karen, Amanda, Daniel and Austin who participated in this year&#8217;s annual St. Dominic Math festival! Three of our kiddos earned white ribbons at this event. We are very proud of every student&#8217;s effort and participation in this year&#8217;s festival.

Mission Carnival Results
Congratulations to Mrs. Smith and our wonderful students and staff for successfully organizing and participating in this year&#8217;s Mission Carnival. Our students were able to raise almost $800.00 for Pan y Mor (Bread &#38; Love). This organization helps to fund missionary activities in South America.

School Improvement Survey
A very important survey related to our School Improvement Process is attached to this week&#8217;s Friday Flyer. This anonymous survey is designed to assist us in better understanding what we do well at St. Joseph School and the areas where we can grow and learn.&#160; The information taken from this survey will help us make our great school even better! Please return these surveys, in the attached envelope,&#160; by Friday, March 9th. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Service Hours
The Playground Committee needs help for tonight&#8217;s Fish Fry. Please call Tonya Hawkins at 636-489-9661 to volunteer.

Playground Committee Fish Fry
Fish fry tonight, March 2nd, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. sponsored by the Playground Committee.&#160; Cost is $10.00 for adults and children 13 and older; $5.00 for children ages 6-12 and children 5 and under are free. School families are asked to PLEASE donate one dessert.
NO SCHOOL March 5th (Snow Day Option)
There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, March 5th

Skating Party
The Class of 2013 is sponsoring an All-School Skating Party next Monday, March 5th from 1-3 pm at Great Skate Roller Rink in St. Peters, MO. There is no school on this day so come out and have some fun with your classmates.&#160; Cost is $5 to skate and $2 for skate rental.&#160; Skating is open to everyone, including parents and preschoolers.&#160; All proceeds will benefit the 2013 8th grade Pro-Life trip. If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Cornett at 332-6867.&#160;

Texas Hold&#8217;Em Tournament
The Playground Committee is sponsoring a Texas Hold&#8217;Em on Saturday, March 10th.&#160; Come to the big game of the year and bring a friend.&#160; Registration begins at 6:00 p.m.&#160; Game starts at 7:00 p.m.&#160; $30.00 entry fee includes snack and refreshment.&#160; 1 re-buy is $20.00.&#160; All proceeds go for the playground.

There is a Confirmation Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 14th.

Feast of St. Joseph
St. Joseph School will celebrate its paternal feast day on Monday, March 19th. Students are asked to bring in St. Joseph statues, pictures or icons by Friday, March 16th.&#160; These items will be blessed on the St. Joseph Altar.

First Communion Meeting
There will be a First Communion meeting for parents on Wednesday, March 28th at 7:00 p.m. in the church. This meeting is for all parents whose child/children will be making their First Communion this year.

Confirmation Retreat
Grades 7/8 will go on their Confirmation Retreat on Thursday, March 29th. This event will occur during school hours.

Parent Club Fish Fry II
The Parent Club will sponsor its 2nd Fish Fry on Friday, March 30th from 5:00 till 7:00 pm.

Pro-Life Trip Fundraiser
Principal for the Day Raffle:&#160; Starting on February 24th through April 21st there will be a raffle drawing that the kids can participate in to win the prize of &#8220;Principal For the Day&#8221;.&#160; Tickets are $1 each or $5 for 6 tickets.&#160; They will be sold at each fish fry, the Trivia Night (April 21st) and sold at school each day until the drawing on April 21st.&#160; The prize includes a dress down day, free homework pass, a special lunch with Mr. Elmore, and more!&#160;All proceeds will benefit the Class of 2013 Pro-Life trip.&#160; If you have any questions see the information located in the school lobby.
