Congratulations to Rachel in Grade 4 for winning the St. Joseph School Grades 1-4 Spelling Bee on Monday, January 24th. Great job Rachel!
Bishop Rice to Celebrate “Vocations Mass”
On Tuesday, February 1st, Bishop Rice will celebrate an 8:00 a.m. Vocations Mass at St. Joseph Church. Afterwards, Bishop Rice along with Sr. Linda Marking will speak to the children about religious vocations.
Parent Club News
· All pizza orders were due today. If you had wanted to place an order and did not get your form in on time, please call Tonya at 636-332-1121. All of the pizza orders will be filled and available for pick-up on the evening of the Chili Supper, February 4th.
· We still need 3 volunteers for Teacher Appreciation Day on Thursday, February 3rd. We will need you to help supervise children from 11:00 am until approximately 12:15 pm. If you are available to help us out, please call Sara Orf at 636-327-4634.
· The Chili Supper will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. We are asking every family to bring two desserts for the chili supper. Workers should report for duty no later than 4:30 p.m. We can always use additional help. If you are available, please volunteer.
· Uniform Exchange --- We will have tables set out with used uniforms. If your child/children have outgrown their present uniform or you need another uniform, now is the time to look over our supply.
Catholic Schools Week- We Are Alive in Christ
Catholic Schools Week will run from January 30th-February 4th. The kids are excited to celebrate our commitment to Catholic education at St. Joseph School. The schedule of events includes:
Attention 8th Grade Parents
We are in need of an 8th grade parent who is willing to drive/chaperone 8th graders to ICD for the Academic Bowl on February 1st from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. If you are available to help with this event please call the school office at (636) 332-5672. The St. Louis Archdiocese requires proof of insurance for any volunteer drivers.
Re-registration for the 2011-12 School Year
Re-registration packets for next school year will soon be available. We need this information to help us plan for the next school year. Grade placements, combinations, use of rooms, and textbook purchases are some of the considerations. The Finance Board met in January and the decision was made to increase the stewardship donation $1.00 per child per week. All other finances and fees will remain the same. Listed below are important dates concerning re-registration.
02/04/11 A table will be set up at the Open House/Chili supper. Please stop by and pick
up your family re-registration packet.
02/08/11 Re-registration packets will be sent home to parents who were unable to pick up their
packet at the Open House/Chili supper
02/10/11 All re-registration forms are due
03/03/11 Re-registration fee of $100.00 per child is due
05/17/11 All remaining fees are due
Faculty Meeting/1:00 p.m. Dismissal
The February Faculty Meeting will be on Friday, February 11th, due to Catholic Schools Week. This will be a 1:00 pm dismissal day.
Dental Hygiene Month
February is Dental Hygiene Month. In an effort to promote proper dental hygiene we have scheduled a presentation by a local area dentist. On Thursday, February 17th, Dr. Jennifer Plessner D.D.S. will be teaching our students how to brush & floss properly along with information outlining how food choices can affect our dental health. All are welcome to attend.
Presidents Day/NO SCHOOL (Snow Day Option)
Presidents Day is on Monday, February 21st. As of this writing we will have NO SCHOOL on this date.
Missions Presentation
On Friday, February 25th, Monsignor Blood will be giving a presentation that will outline the Church’s effort to support the Missions. The meeting will begin at 1:30 pm in the school cafeteria. All are welcome to attend.
