The Beginning of a Life Changing Experience
DAY 1
On January 21, 2007 the eighth graders' trip of a lifetime began. We left the school parking lot at 7:30 a.m. We said good-bye to our family members and our school. Our flight was very smooth. We even had the privilege to share our flight with the Archbishop Raymond Burke.
After we checked in, we visited Ford Theater and the room where President Lincoln died. We also shopped for souvenirs and we visited the ESPN zone. After this we, stopped at Hard Rock Cafe'. We took pictures and, once again, shopped for souvenirs. At a souvenir shop the parents found special hats called Brock-o-brellas.
At 10:30 p.m., we had mass in Father's room. We then returned to our rooms to prepare for another adventurous day.

DAY 2
On January 22nd, 2007, everyone woke up, got ready, and met in the lobby to go protest abortion. We then walked about ten blocks to the Verizon Center. We sat in the balcony level because the stadium was filled. About 20,000 people came to the rally and Mass held there. We listened to bands and a singer named Janelle. She was very pro-life because doctors said she would never have children. Now, she has a four-year-old and is expecting a second child in a few months.
After the rally, a Mass was held. The Archbishop of the District of Columbia was there with about 500 other religious members.
When the Mass ended, we marched to the Capitol and Senate buildings. We stood there for two hours and chanted things like, "Hey, Oh, Roe v. Wade has got to go."
After the march, we returned to the hotel and ate pizza and drank soda. After that, we sat and discussed the past day, along with many other things. When the parents returned from their walk, we went to bed and thought about our next few days.

DAY 3
On the third day of our D.C. trip, we toured the city. We left the hotel early in the morning to get on our tour bus. Our first destination was Mt. Vernon. Mt. Vernon was the home of George Washington. We toured the house and the grounds for a couple hours. Then, we went to the food court for lunch.
After lunch we left for Arlington national Cemetery. We saw the tomb of President Kennedy, the house of Robert E. Lee, many tombs of soldiers, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. At the tomb of the unknown Soldiers, we saw the changing of the guards. They do this every hour, on the hour.
Next we went to Iwo Jima. This is a memorial honoring troops in WWII. We then left to see the many war memorials including the Korean War memorial, the WWII Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. We also saw the Lincoln Memorial.
After that, we went to Union Station for supper; and after supper we went back to our hotel rooms and just hung out for the rest of the night until bedtime.
